Colloquium

This year the harmonium celebrates its 180th anniversary. Musician, restorer, collector and researcher Simon Buser explains how the instrument conquered the bourgeois living room in the 19th century. The common thread is the then popular music of Lefébure-Wély, 'often quite one-sided to our ears', says Buser, 'but surprisingly interesting on old harmoniums'. Buser brings along a Debain harmonium from 1842 to perform it extensively (Language: English).
